About Us
Southeastern Career InstituteSoutheastern Career Institute, formerly Southeastern Paralegal Institute, was founded in Nashville, Tennessee in 1981. The Dallas location opened in 1987 to fill the need for trained paralegals in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex, as well as nationwide. Southeastern Paralegal Institute of Dallas was owned by Denver Paralegal Institute Acquisition Corporation, a wholly–owned subsidiary of Denver Paralegal Institute, Ltd. (a paralegal training program located in Denver, Colorado).
In November of 2000, the School was purchased by Quest Education Corporation, a school company with headquarters in Roswell, Georgia. Quest is a subsidiary of Kaplan, Inc. The name of the School was changed to Southeastern Career Institute—Dallas in December of 2001. Quest changed its name to Kaplan Higher Education Corporation in December of 2002. Kaplan is dedicated to continuing the same excellent education for which the School is known.
Southeastern Career Institute—Dallas opened a branch campus in Midland, Texas in October 2003. The Midland campus offers the Medical Assistant, Dental Assistant and Computer Business Systems programs.

Information on Programs Offered:Computers run the world and people who know how to efficiently run computers are valuable members of any company. Through this program, you will learn how to manage the application programs used for word processing, spreadsheet applications and computerized presentations. Computer Business Program Overview- The Computer Business Systems program combines the skills that are needed in the modern workforce. The program will prepare graduates for Microsoft Office Specialist Certification. Graduates will also be prepared to take the Expert-level exam for Word, and the Core-level exam for PowerPoint, Excel and Access. Dental Assistant Job Duties- Dental Assistants have a variety of administrative and clinical duties. Some of the administrative responsibilities include scheduling appointments, answering the phone, completing patient files, completing insurance forms and more.
Work Environment- Dental Assistants also take vital signs, expose and develop dental radiographs (X- Rays), make dental impressions and models, and function as the dentist's extra pair of hands in an operation. Most professional Dental Assistants work in private offices, either for a single dentist or a group practice, and have a mixture of administrative and clinical responsibilities. Our society depends on electricity to run nearly every aspect of daily life. As a result, electrical technicians are regularly needed to provide electrical services while using the proper equipment and adhering to safety guidelines. Paralegal program overview- Paralegals perform many different duties and tasks in a wide variety of job settings in law firms, corporations and government agencies. Legal Documents- These duties may include legal and factual research, drafting of legal and other documents, business regulatory compliance, contract administration and law office management. Associate degree is required for admission to the program. Medical Assistant program overview- As professional Medical Assistants, our graduates can work in private physicians' offices and may have a combination of administrative and clinical responsibilities. Medical Assistants are often found in clinics, hospital admissions, patient records and insurance departments. Job duties- Graduates of this program may perform duties in both the administrative and clinical areas of a doctor's office, clinic or other medical facility. Some graduates may specialize in either clinical or administrative duties, but most perform duties in both areas. Health care is the largest industry in the United States, so a career in this field can offer a promising future. In fact, according to the Department of Labor, eight out of twenty occupations projected to grow the fastest are in health care.* A large share of those jobs is in office and administrative support. You will be assigned various duties throughout your workday.
