    Information on Programs Offered:

    The objective of the Business Office Technology program at Southwest School of Business and Technical Careers in San Antonio, TX is to insure the student will learn the skills needed by today's business offices, including the operation of a personal computer utilizing word processing and spreadsheet software. Practical, as well as academic skills are stressed. The student will learn good English skills, be proficient at filing, records management, and accounting fundamentals, as well as typing, 10-key, and other business machine operations. The student will be able to perform most tasks in a general office environment; such as a receptionist, administrative assistan, inventory cler, invoice processor, entry-level accounting clerk or payroll clerk.

    The mission of the Clinical/Medical Assistant program at Southwest school of Business and Technical Careers in Corpus Christi, TX is to equip the graduate with the skills, knowledge, and abilities to perform the duties that are required of a clinical medical assistant in a medical office or hospital facility. 

    Students will learn the clinical and administrative skills, business communication, computer applications, job readiness, keyboarding, medicalfront and back office duties, filing insurance claims, CPT and ICD-9 coding, accounts payable and receivable, and payroll and reception duties. 

    Graduates may find employment in a doctor's office, various hospital departments, healthcare clinics, emergency care office and other offices in a medical environment. 

    The Computer Application program at Southwest School of Business and Technical Careers in San Antonio, TX is designed to insure the student will learn basic to intermediate computer operation skills using commercially popular business software. The student will learn to be productive in the Disk Operating System (DOS) and Windows operating environments. The student will learn concepts and complete tasks designed to bring an enhanced understanding of Microsoft Word for Windows, Microsoft Excel for Windows, WordPerfect for Windows, Excel for Windows and Quattro Pro for Windows. The student will also learn basic job search and resume skills in the Professional Development module of the program. The Computer Concepts program at Southwest School of Business and Technical Careers in San Antonio, TX is designed to insure the student will learn the basic knowledge of the operation of the Personal Computer and to introduce word processing, utillizing Word Perfect 5.1 and Spreadsheets, utilizing Lotus 1-2-3. The student will have entry-level skills on completion of the program. The student will have marketable skills that will qualify them for a career in most offices.

    The mission of the Computerized Accounting Specialist program at Southwest School of Business and Technical Careers in Corpus Christi, TX  is to equip the graduate with the skills, knowledge, and abilities to perform the duties that are required of a computerized accounting specialist in an office environment.

    Students will learn how to post transactions to accounts, utilize record-keeping systems and operate accounting software, in addition to acquiring general accounting principles and practices.

    Graduates may find employment as Billing & Posting Clerks, Bookkeepers, Accountant & Auditing Clerks, Payroll & Timekeeping Clerks, and Statistical Assistants. 

    The objective of the Cosmetology Facial Specialist program at Southwest School of Business and Technical Careers in San Antonio, TX is to provide the student with the skills necessary to perform facials, utilizing the most modern techniques, procedures and chemicals that are available and to prepare the student for an examination given by the Texas Department of Licensing & Regulation subsequent to issuance of aState License to perform facials.The objective of the Cosmetology Instructor program at Southwest School of Business and Technical Careers in San Antonio, TX is to develop the student's cosmetology skills, to provide theory and training to teach instructor skills, and to prepare the student to take and pass an examination administeredby the Texas Department of Licensing & Regulation prior to issuing an instructor cosmetology liscense.
    The objective of the Cosmetology Manicuring Specialist program is to teach the student the fundamental requirements of manicuring in order for the student to perform all of the services normally associated with manicuring, including nail preparation, implements, materials, safety, and procedures necessary to meet the requirements of the Texas Department of Licensing & Regulation and pass the examination, both written and practical, administered prior to issuing a license to perform manicuring specialist services. The objective of the Cosmetology Operator program at Southwest School of Business and Technical Careers in San Antonio, TX is to providethe student with the necessary skills to perform all of the services normally associated with cosmetology, including hair styling, hair coloring, manicuring, facials and shampooing in order to meet the requirements of the State of Texas Department of Licensing & Regulation and pass the examination, both written and practical, administered prior to issuing a license to perfom cosmetology services.
    The objective of the Cosmetology Shampooing Specialist program at Southwest School of Business and Technical Careers in San Antonio, TX is to provide the student with the skills necessary to perform shampooing services, including hair tinting, bleaching, and conditioning; and to prepare the student for an examination given by the Texas Department of Licensing & Regulation on Shampooing.

    The mission of the General Office Skills program at Southwest School of Business and Technical Careers in Corpus Christi, TX is to equip the graduate with the skills, knowledge, and abilities to perform the duties that are required of a general office clerk in an office environment. 

    Students will learn business communication, computer applications, job readiness, keyboarding, front office duties, filing, accounts payable and receivable and payroll and reception duties.

    Graduates may find employment as word processors, call center associates, customer service representatives, general typists, office assistants, administrative assistants and other secretarial office positions. 

    The objective of the Medical Assistant program at Southwest School of Business and Technical Careers in San Antonio, TX is to equip the student with the necessary basic medical skills so that the student can function as an assistant in either the front or back office of a clinic, doctor's office, hospital or related health care facility. The student will learn life saving and first aid skills that may be utilized in both medical and non-medical environments.

    The mission of the Medical Office Specialist program at Southwest School of Business and Technical Careers in Corpus Christi, TX is to equip the graduate with the skills, knowledge, and abilities to perform the duties that are required of a medical office specialist in a medical administrative or hospital administrative office. 

    Students will learn business communication, computer applications, job readiness, keyboarding, medical front office duties, filing insurance claims, CPT and ICD-9 coding, accounts payable and receivable, payroll and reception duties.

    Graduates may find employment as medical office specialists, office assistants, in clerical office positions, as word processors, administrative assistants and filing insurance claims. 

    The objective of the Nursing Assistant program at Southwest School of Business and Technical Careers in San Antonio, TX is to insure the student will learn the fundamental requirements of basic health care in order to assist nurses in caring for ill, convalescent, injured and handicapped persons in hopstals, nursing homes, private homes, doctor's offices, and other health care facilities.

    The mission of the Pharmacy Technician program at Southwest School of Business and Technical Careers in Corpus Christi, TX is to equip the graduate with the skills, knowledge, and abilities to perform the duties that are required of a pharmacy technician in a pharmacy environment.

    Students will learn the basic pharmacology skills, pharmacy operations, preparing medications for dispensing, labeling and refill authorization, transcribing physician's orders and hospital charts, drug product election, business communication, computer applications, job readiness, keyboarding, and procedures for acquiring all necessary information. This program will assist students in preparing for the Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) exam. Although the program is designed to prepare students to take the CPhT exam, the school cannot guarantee students will pass the exam.

    Graduates may find employment as a pharmacy technician in a retail pharmacy, hospital pharmacy, pharmaceutical facility, drug related companies and residential pharmacy.
