The mission of the Center For Advanced Legal Studies in Houston, is to provide students with the skills, practical knowledge and requisite abilities which will allow them not only to succeed, but also to excel as paralegals as they meet the growing and constant needs of the legal, governmental and corporate environments within the community. The Center For Advanced Legal Studies offers placement assistance in both traditional and non-traditional markets for graduates of the paralegal programs and seeks to provide equal opportunities without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age, disability or sexual orientation. Program placement rates are made available to all incoming students during their admission interview. The Center has specialized solely in the education of paralegals due to the ability of our graduates, and the reputation of our faculty and staff since opening its doors in Houston in 1987. Information on Programs Offered:The Associate of Applied Science Degree Paralegal Program provides comprehensive preparation for a paralegal career. Students must hold a minimum of a high school diploma or its equivalent and achieve a passing score of 20 on the Wonderlic Personnel Test in order to be accepted into this program. It provides a practical and intense study of a variety of areas of law and completes this experience through an offering of general education classes. Students may complete their degree in as little as 15 months (60 weeks) by attending full-time morning classes or 19 months (80 weeks) part-time in the evening. The program consists of a total of 62 semester credit hours. You must have a bachelor degree to apply to the certificate program. The Paralegal Certificate program is designed for students who have earned a bachelor's degree prior to application to the Center and have achieved a passing score of 20 on the Wonderlic Personnel Test. This program is streamlined to provide education in the most employable and demanding areas of the law, while still offering the essential paralegal courses of study. Certificates may be earned in only 7 months (30 weeks) by attending full-time during the morning or 10 months (40 weeks) part-time in the evening.
