Information on Programs Offered:It takes a skilled specialist to install, diagnose or service air conditioning and heating system. Systems are needed to control temperature, humidity or even the cleanliness of the air in homes, offices, factories, schools, theaters, and shopping malls. After a few years of experience in the field and a small investment, an air conditioning specialist may eventually work up to ownership of a servicing company. In the Refrigeration and HVAC Technology program, you can learn: Commercial, Industrial, and Residential Air Conditioning Systems and Control: Computerized Control Systems, Installation, Service and Repair: Codes: Blue Print Reading: Sheet Metal and Ductwork: Electrical Wiring Systems, Design and Installation, EPA Certification Exam available to students and graduates. Because of its strength, welding is used to construct and repair ships, automobiles, spacecrafts and thousands of other manufacturing products. Welder is used to join beams when constructing buildings, bridges and other structures, and pipes in pipelines, nuclear power plants and refineries. Welders use all types of welding equipment in a variety of positions, such as flat, vertical, horizontal and overhead. They may perform manual welding, in which the work is entirely controlled by the welder, or semi-automatic welding, in which the welder uses machinery, such as a wire feeder, to help perform welding tasks. They generally plan work from drawings or specifications, or by analyzing damaged metal parts, using their knowledge of welding and metals. They select and set up welding equipment and examine welds to insure they meet standards or specifications. Some welders have more limited duties. They perform routine production work that has already been planned and laid out.If you would like to be successful in Automotive Technology, make sure you're going in the right direction. ASE Master Certified in Automotive means that Western Technical College's Automotive Technology Program had been certified by the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF), a division of the National Institute of Automotive Service Excellence in all eight possible subject areas.That's right, learn to work on the big stuff! You will learn the knowledge and skills to diagnose malfunctions and make necessary repairs on the following systems; diesel engines, suspension & steering, air brakes, electrical/electronics, preventative maintenance, drive train, heating ventilating air conditioning, and hydraulics. This will prepare you for work as a diesel technician in medium/heavy duty dealerships, diesel repair facilities or fleet maintenance facilities to name a few.The health information technology program at Western Technical College is the only program in the state of Texas that combines the three critical areas needed in a multitude of settings throughout the health care industry, from hospitals, physicians offices, to insurance agencies. Health information technology (HIT) program combines a profession in health care with information technology. Is a profession in health care with business applications, analyze patient records, assign ICD and HCPCS codes for reimbursement and medical necessity. Health information technology program offers individuals the opportunity to pursue a business-related career that is an essential part of the health care industry Accreditation/Certification - Graduates are eligible to take AHIMA's two key credentials exams Certified Coding Specialist and Certified Coding Specialist- Physician based, or the American Academy of Professional Coder (AAPC) Certified Professional Coder exams The student will learn Health and Hygiene, responsibility in providing a safe and sanitary facility by practicing universal precautions. Business and Ethics, develop a business plan and understand different types of businesses as related to Massage Therapy. Introduce the student to Anatomy (structure) and the Physiology of the ten-body systems. Training will focus on the Swedish massage, drape their clients appropriately, full body massage and range of motion on every movable joint. Students will learn hydrotherapy in use of water in three forms, liquid, solid and vapor. Graduates will be able to confidently give a one hour massage and developed office skills they will need to start their massage career. Advanced training in human anatomy, physiology and function to the skeletal muscular systems. Gain a basic knowledge of different pathologies as related to massage therapy. CPR certification by the American Heart Association and employment preparation is given to students prior to graduation. Students will learn advanced Massage techniques and Spa techniques. Advanced modalities such as chair massage, sports massage, trigger point therapy and euromuscular therapy and myofascial treatments. Capstone and finals, the student will prepare for state board exams including the hands-on portion of the state exam. Students will be given time to study for the comprehensive final and prepare for national certification exams. The objective of the Medical Assisting program is to train the student to acquire satisfactory skills and demonstrate competence in a variety of medical office procedures and laboratory techniques under the direct supervision of the physician. The medical procedures and lab techniques include: Hemodialysis fundamentals, injections, EKGs, vital signs, urinalysis, phlebotomy, and assistance with minor surgery and emergency situations. The office procedures include: typing, transcription, word processing, patient data collection, bookkeeping, billing and collection. Upon satisfactory completion of the training and externship, a student will be qualified to assume an entry-level position as a medical assistant performing the medical procedures, lab techniques and front office duties described above. Our Medical Assisting program is also accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). In addition to the theoretical knowledge gained in these areas, the graduate will gain valuable hands-on experience in a diverse set of technical areas. Specifically, the student will learn about schematic reading, circuit fabrication, troubleshooting, alternating circuits, transistor and operational amplifiers, fiber optic splicing and termination techniques, CAT-V cable termination, cellular telephones, radio frequency (RF) transmitters and receivers, and microwave systems. Electronic Technicians and repairers install, maintain, and repair electronic equipment used in offices, factories, homes, hospitals, aircrafts, and other places. Equipments includes televisions, radar, industrial equipment control, computers, telephone systems, and medical diagnosing equipment. Many electronic careers are considered evolving and emerging, especially those careers in computers and telecommunications. Because these industries are tied to the ever-increasing demand for devices with higher capacities and faster transfer rates, there should be considerable growth and earnings potential for high-tech electronic professionals now and in the future.
